Whatdoes private rehab cost in BC?

Scroll to explore

Cost is usually the first real question and the last one anyone wants to ask. Here is how private residential program is paid for in British Columbia, and how we handle it.

The short answer

Private residential rehab in British Columbia is paid for privately. It is quoted either per day or as a total fee for a set length of stay, and BC’s Medical Services Plan does not cover it. Some extended health and employee assistance plans reimburse part of the counselling or session component. Halo Ridge Recovery gives a written figure during admissions, once length of stay and program plan are known, before any commitment.

How a quote is built

What changes the cost of a stay?

Length of stay

Residential programs commonly run from several weeks to a few months. Length is the single largest factor in the total.

Program plan

The intensity of program work, the practices involved, and any specialist input shape what the weekly program costs to deliver.

Level of support

Medical complexity, co-occurring conditions, and the amount of one-to-one support required all affect staffing.

What is included, and what is not?

Included in the fee

  • Accommodation at the Forbidden Plateau Road property
  • All meals during the stay
  • The recovery programming: one-to-one sessions and group work
  • Trauma-focused, holistic, and nature-based sessions in the weekly schedule
  • Discharge and transition planning

Billed separately

  • Travel to and from the Comox Valley
  • Prescriptions and pharmacy costs
  • Off-site medical or dental appointments
  • Medical detox, where it is needed before admission
  • Specialist services brought in at request

Paying for it

What funding routes exist?

Private pay. Most people fund a private stay themselves or with family support. Payment terms are agreed in writing before admission.

Extended health and EAP. Some plans reimburse part of the counselling or session component. Check the policy for residential program limits, and we will supply documentation for a claim.

Employer or professional programs. Regulated professions and some employers fund program through their own programs. Referring organisations can contact admissions directly.

Publicly funded program. If a private stay is out of reach, publicly funded residential beds on Vancouver Island are accessed through Island Health. See the guide to both routes.

Common questions

Questions about cost and coverage

How much does private rehab cost in BC?
Private residential programs in British Columbia are paid for privately and are usually quoted either per day or as a total fee for a set length of stay. Halo Ridge Recovery quotes a specific fee during admissions, once the program plan and length of stay are known, and before any commitment is made.
What is included in the fee?
The quote covers the residential stay itself: accommodation, meals, the recovery programming, and the programmed activities in the weekly schedule. Travel to the Comox Valley, medications, and any external medical appointments sit outside it.
Why is a price not published on the website?
Length of stay and program plan differ substantially between people, so a single published figure would misrepresent most of them. We give a firm number in writing during the admissions conversation.
Does MSP cover private residential program?
BC's Medical Services Plan does not cover the residential fee at a private program. Publicly funded residential beds accessed through Island Health are a separate route with little or no cost to the individual.
Are there extra costs during a stay?
Anything arranged outside the program, such as prescriptions, off-site medical appointments, or specialist services brought in at request, is billed separately. We name these during admissions rather than after.
Will extended health insurance pay for it?
Some extended health and employee assistance plans reimburse part of a private stay, most often the counselling or session component rather than accommodation. Check the policy wording for residential program limits, and we can provide documentation to support a claim.
Do you take deposits or payment plans?
Payment terms, including any deposit and instalment arrangements, are set out in writing during admissions. Nothing is payable before there is a written quote and an agreed plan.

Halo Ridge Recovery is a private residential recovery program. We are not a hospital, medical facility, or licensed treatment centre. We do not provide medical care, detox or withdrawal management, prescribing, or diagnosis. Where those services are needed, we can help connect you with a third-party provider so support starts sooner rather than later.
